Scarce 5th Special Forces Group 1st pattern jungle jacket and green beret.

The 1st pattern jungle jacket has its full set of original patches and insignia. OG-107 cotton poplin (non rip-stop) construction with exposed buttons and waist tabs.
The insignia set include a US-made cut edge SF patch on the left shoulder with an airborne and ranger tab sewn over it. Captain rank and Infantry officer crossed rifles patches sewn on the collar. Subdued name tape and full color US Army tape. CIB, US senior jump wings and SRVN jump wings patch.
Nice pin back South Vietnamese Captain / Dai Uy blossoms pinned on the front of the jacket. Early 1963 contract date.

The green beret shows the 5th SFG flash and has a clutch back captain insignia.

Both items came together as a group. Capt Gonneville most probably refers to Capt Donald Gonneville (Retired as a LTC) who was an executive officer, Operational “A” Detachment, 5th Special Forces Group(Abn), Republic of Vietnam.

Rare beret vert et veste de brousse du 1er type du 5th Groupe des Forces Spéciales US.

La veste de brousse du premier type dispose de ses patchs et insignes originaux. Construction en popeline de coton OG-107 (Sans anti-déchirure) avec boutons apparents et sangles de serrage à la taille.
Les insignes incluent un patch d'épaule des Forces Spéciales de fabrication US avec bord coupé, ainsi que les patchs Airborne et Ranger cousus au dessus. Les insignes de capitaine de d'officier de l'infanterie sont cousus au col. Bande nominative camouflée et bande "US Army" en couleur. Patch CIB et ailes de saut US et SRVN.
Bel insigne de grade de capitaine / Dai Uy de l'armée sud-vietnamienne épinglé sur la partie avant de la veste. Date de contrat précoce de 1963.

Le béret vert montre l'insigne frontal du 5eme SFG et un insigne de rang de Capitaine.

Ces deux éléments d'uniforme ont été trouvées ensemble. La bande nominative "Gonneville" identifie très probablement le Captain Donald Gonneville, (Qui a atteint le rang de Lieutenant Colonel), qui était un officier du détachement opérationnel "A" du 5th Special Forces Group (Aéroporté).
