US Army class-A dress jacket identified to Lieutenant Colonel Arthur W. Blair.

Lt. Col. Blair was the commanding officer of the 268th Field Artillery Battalion in WWII and was killed in action on December 25th, 1944 during the battle of the Bulge. According to an online source, he was addressing his battalion on the morning of Dec 25th, when a shell fell nearby, killing him and injuring several other officers.

This jacket was found in a footlocker without its insignia. Two name tags are sewn on the jacket, one on the liner tag, and one under the waist belt. His name is also written at the bottom of the pocket tag.

We've added a set of original WWII Lt Col pin back shoulder ranks, a set of artillery officer collar insignia and the US collar insignia to this jacket.

Lt Col Blair was a native of New Jersey but was living in Colorado Springs, CO before he enlisted and went overseas. His family stayed in Colorado Springs during a few years after the war ended, which could explain how this jacket ended up in Colorado.

Le Lt. Col. Blair était l'officier commandant du 268eme Bataillon d'artillerie de campagne durant la Seconde Guerre Mondiale et fut tué au combat le 25 Décembre 1944 dans la bataille des Ardennes. D'après une source internet, il s'adressait aux hommes de son bataillon au matin du 25 Décembre quand un obus s'est abattu tous près, le tuant et blessant plusieurs autre officiers.

Cette veste à été trouvée dans un coffre sans ses insignes. Deux étiquettes nominatives sont cousues sur cette veste, l'une sur l'étiquette située dans la doublure, l'autre au dos de la ceinture. Son nom est également écrit au bas de l'étiquette située dans la poche intérieur.

Nous avons complété cette veste avec un jeu d'insigne d'épaule de Lt Col à épingle, des insignes de col d'officier de l'artillerie, et des insignes de col "US".

Le Lt Col Blair est natif du New Jersey mais vivait à Colorado Springs, CO avant qu'il ne s'engage dans l'armée et qu'il soit envoyé à l'outre-mer. Sa famille est restée à Colorado Springs pendant quelques années après la guerre, ce qui pourrait expliqué comment cette veste se soit retrouvée dans l'état du Colorado.
